Accreditation

The Bloomfield Fire Department is currently undergoing a Fire Service Accreditation program with the Commission on Fire Accreditation International.

This organization was created by a joint venture of the International City Managers Association and the International Fire Chiefs Association.

 

The program involves an in depth evaluation of local fire departments. From it's organization, operations, management, and planning functions. This is achieved by measuring the departments current capabilities against nationally recognized practices and standards (benchmarking) with the final goal to develop and implement plans to maximize the performance level of the department.

Once accreditation is achieved, our department will be recognized as one that optimized it's capabilities of providing the best service to the community within the scope of our resources. Currently there are no municipal fire departments in the State of New Jersey with this accreditation.
