The image of firemen fighting a raging fire is generally the first thing that comes to mind when the Fire Dept is mentioned. While this is the primary function of the department...  the services provided by the BFD encompass so much more

 The Bloomfield Fire Department's mission is to protect the citizens of the township from fire, in our homes, our schools, our places of worship, and our businesses.

This is accomplished though public fire education, comprehensive fire safety inspections, and aggressive fire attack. These commitments are enhanced by the belief in education and training, which will allow the department to continually improve the method and manner of the quality of services it provides to all our citizens.
 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Working with the town's EMS and Police Dept, extrication of motor vehicle accident victims is a major function of the department

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Educating our children as to how to "get out" in the event of a fire.

 

 

 

Fire prevention is the key to saving lives. Along with the Fire Prevention Bureau, our fire suppression force inspects all of the township's businesses, schools, and multi family dwellings, not only to look for potential problems, but to make themselves familiar with these buildings in case an emergency should arise.

Water evacuation from a flooded cellar, gas leaks, hazardous material situations, and downed power lines are all handled by the department.
